6th Annual Cookie Exchange
Theme: Sugarland

I'm writing this poem
To help you remember
The cookie exchange
On eleven December.

Come enter a land
of sugar and spice.
Cookies OR CANDIES
Will taste so nice.

Bring six dozen
Of either treat.
Plus two more pieces
For judges to eat.

There'll be a grand prize
Christmas Tree.
Who will this year's
Winner be?

Arrive at two
Depart around four.
You'll take home gifts
And goodies galore.

Please RSVP
And save the date.
The fun starts early
So don't be late.

(Tune of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas)

Jolly old Dear Baking Friends
Lean your ears this way
Don't you tell a single soul
What I'm going to say
Cookie swap is coming soon
Now you dear old friends
E-mail what you'll bring to me
Tell me if you can

When the bell is dinging twelve
Then I'll take a peak
From the oven, warm and brown
With those smells so sweet
All the cookies you will find
Sitting in a row
Mine will be the sweetest ones
You'll be sure to know

Patty wants them filled with nuts
Annie wants them red
Neecie wants them chocolate,
Rich is what she said
Now I think I'll leave to you
'Cause you bake the best
Choose for me, Dear Baking Friends
You can do the rest.

Lisa's 9th Annual Cookie Exchange December 11th, 2011

Cookies baking in a hot oven,
Aroma's filling up your nose.
Christmas cookies being baked by the dozen, and
folks dressed up in festive clothes.

Everybody knows some sprinkles and some cookie dough,
help to make your cookies right.
Tiny tots eating raw cookie dough, will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know the guests will be on their way,
To 625 Wellington Road for the day.
And every mother's child is going to cry
When they hear they can't come to the cookie party this time.

And so we're starting at 1:00 that day,
So bring your 6 dozen or 72.
Although it's been said many times, many ways…
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!

Eliana Tomlin, Brea, California

Twas the night before December 10th
And all through the house,
The cookies were baking
Six dozen keep count.

The tables were set for goodies to rest
While cider was boiling
with cinnamon and zest

Come ready for carols and treats to be shared
Cause Christmas is here is time to exchange
Come soon, come early four o’clock is the time
Will be waiting excitedly don’t waste any time

Print your recipe clearly
On cards to give out
We love all the goodies
We don’t want to run out

Frosting The Cookies
(Sing to the tune of Frosty The Snowman)

Frosting the cookies, is always so much fun,
With a pastry bag and a jar of sprinkles just makes for a homerun!
Frosting the cookies, is a yearly tradition they say,
They are made of dough, and the husbands know that they get to taste next day.
There must have been some magic in those old fashion mixers and pans,
For when the cookies were placed in the oven, they began to smell like pecans!
Oh, frosting the cookies, is so much fun to arrange,
And the best part of all is to share with friends,
At the Christmas Cookie Exchange!

Lumpety lump, lump, lumpety lump, lump
Mixing the batter dough!
Lumpety lump, lump, lumpety lump, lump
Over to Renee’s we go!

Frosting 12 dozen, and preparing a nice display,
Will bring some fun, and lots of laughs at the morning breakfast buffet.
Down to the kitchen, with a spatula in my hand,
Running here and there, baking cookies and squares,
Sayin’, “this will be so grand”!

Lumpety lump, lump, lumpety lump, lump
December 17th, lets go!
Lumpety lump, lump, lumpety lump, lump
11am I know!

Bring a friend and win a prize, and I hope you make the stop!
By popular demand its Pajama’s again at the Christmas Cookie Swap!
Oh, Frosting the cookies, and putting them in your sleigh,
Now drive on over in your big landrover and then exchange away!

Lumpety lump, lump, lumpety lump, lump
I hope that you do show!
Lumpety lump, lump, lumpety lump, lump
RSVP before it snows!

2nd Place for Best Poems Invitation!

Tracey Weaver, Mars, Pennsylvania
Sing to the tune "Frosty the Snowman"

Tracey* the Baker was a jolly happy soul,
With a bag of flour and a rolling pin
And two different mixing bowls.

Tracey the Baker has a cookie party, they say,
And the people who go, certainly know,
the children stay home that day.

The guests hope there's some magic in that
Old recipe they found.
For when they bring six dozen their
cookie might win the crown!

O, Tracey the Baker, was as strict as she could be,
The cookies you make, must be baked from scratch,
Bring a side dish for company.

Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety thump thump,
Look at them roll dough.
Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety thump thump,
Into the oven they go!

Tracey the Baker has cocktails for that day.
So she said, "Let's drink and we won't have to think.
We'll let the time just melt away.”

Up to the Cliffside*, 239* to be just right.
So run here and there, find something festive to wear,
From 4o'clock and into the night!

You won't go down the streets of town,
Right on her couch you'll plop.
Bring a recycled gift for the exchange,
For one that you never would shop!

Tracey the Baker, chose December 11th*, a Saturday.
But if that day looks bad, don't be sad,
The party will back again some day.

Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety thump thump,
Look at them roll dough.
Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety thump thump,
Into the oven they go!
