Jen Fought's
2nd Cookie Exchange

Ligonier, Indiana

With one exchange under my belt, I felt confident that I could do this. I did up a special poem with the rules on the back side and sent them out late October. Almost everyone attended.

I had everyone come on a friday evening from 6-8pm in holiday pajamas (which was so nice to be comfortable). My 2 cousins and aunt even made there own matching Christmas sweaters and wore them with pajama pants. What spirit!

There were 9 people including me and I had an appetizer buffet of meatballs, deli spirals, salsa con queso and chips, and crescent rolls.

The cookies were:

  • chocolate reindeers

  • rolo cookies

  • spice cookies

  • strawberry and cream dreams

  • lemon snowballs

  • double frosted chocolate cookie

  • mint cookie

My two sister in laws did a recipe together that actually didn't turn out so they bought a box of cookies in a last ditch effort. We flogged them later in the evening

We played a few rounds of Christmas bingo to which I had prizes such as a silicone candy form and festive oven mitts.

I bought dollar ornaments for everyone and wrapped them and then we did the right left game to see who got which one.

No one was allowed to say cookie this year or else they would get their mini ornament on their safety pin taken away. There was a prize for the person with the most at the end of the night.

We also did a Christmas song game where they worked in teams of two and had a time limit to figure out what song the clue was talking about.

Again this year, we had the most festive display award for their cookie presentation and most festive cookie.

The reindeer cookies won and my cousin managed to turn a laundry basket into a wagon being pulled by a reindeer in which she filled with "snow" and set her tray of cookies on.

It was so beautiful with the candles lit and Christmas lights on
and the music playing.

Everyone had a blast.

Here is my invitation.

Snickerdoodles, meltaways, caramel chews

Pfeffernuesse, and gingerbread to name just a few.

Forget the bills and christmas shopping,

And enjoy some fun and cookie swapping.

Sweets will come from near and far

Made with love for your cookie jar.

Russian hats, shortbread, molasses, too

Gingerbread, spritz - any will do

With candles ablaze and lights all aglow

We'll gather and laugh till the fire burns low.

Stay for treats that all shall come bearing,

But come for family, friends and most importantly-sharing.
