Lynn Knepp's 2nd Cookie
Exchange

Lynn's Notes: Kind of a disappointing year....everyone was so busy and must have left everything til the last minute. Thought about 13 were coming til the morning of the party...all cancelled but 6. 2 people did drop off their cookies for me to trade. Guess I'm just going to have to plan like you do for the 1st Sat. or Sun. of Dec., then it won't be so rushed at the end of the month. Had a great time anyway and had lots of different, delicious cookies. Bought our 'guy' a paper hat and wrote on it "REAL MEN DO BAKE COOKIES" (thanks for the idea). He had a blast and said he's got an idea for next year....as far as a costume. I had an apron embroidered on for me (Lynn's Cookies) to wear every year and had a Santa headband to complement the apron :) Thanks for all your ideas! Lynn
It is not uncommon to have many people cancel at the last minute, it is nearly almost expected. And it does happen to nearly everyone who gives this party year after year. In 2000, I had 17 confirmed people coming over. The day of the party the "flu" calls started coming in. Do I think everyone had the flu? No, they just didn't make the time to make their cookies. Oh well. My philosophy is "To the victor goes the spoils". For the people that actually make it to the party, they get to reap the benefits of the fun, food and fellowship. Everyone loves the dazzling display of a table filled full of aromatic cookies! Also, I consider it a minor miracle when most DO show up! It is the busiest time of the year, and I know how busy and stressed out I am. It's just is a nice holiday break for those who make the time. Don't let a small showing deter you, other years will be better. Just tell yourself that you will have a great time no matter how many show up. I hope you had a lovely holiday. My best, Robin
