Jennie Smith's
1st Cookie Exchange
Langhorne
(Bucks County), PA
Dear Robin
First I want to thank you for having such an excellent website. Without
the tips & extensive information on your site I could not have done
this.
I hosted my 1st Christmas Cookie Exchange on 12/18/2005. I started
out back in October by an email to put feelers out about attending a 1st
Cookie Exchange. The response was very positive, so I moved forward. Between
that time & the actual Cookie Exchange held on 12/18/2005, I sent newsletters
updates with tips, reminders, facts of origins and basics on a Cookie Exchange,
sites to view, etc.
The big day came & it really was grand! 8 attendees and a delicious
assortment of cookies as follows:
-
Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies by Siobhan Smith
-
Chocolate & Dried Cherry Oatmeal Cookies by Christine Cooney
-
Chocolate/Chocolate Chunk Walnut Cookies by Geri Bradley
-
Mini Crème Cheese Cakes by Susanne Derby
-
Peanut/Peanut Butter Cup Cookies by Nancy Cadwallader
-
Snickerdoodles by Jen Smith / Hostess
-
Swedish Raspberry Teacakes by Carol Mellen
-
Tea Bit Cookies by Dale Festa
A good time was has by all and I offered a grand prize of the
Wellesley Cookie Exchange Cookbook & a large Gingerbread
cookie cutter. You can say I passed the torch for next year
but actually it was a Gingerbread Cookie Cutter. We did have
a game to establish who would receive the grand prize and everyone was given
1 minute. The winner had to guess the total number of Christmas Ornaments
on one particular Christmas tree (out of 5 themed Christmas trees).
Suzanne came closest without going over & was awarded the grand prize.
Everyone left with a little party favor reminiscent of the 50s &
60s growing up. It was just great! Lots of excellent cookies, friendship
and laughter. We also all donated cookies and boxed/canned goods that were
taken to the local Red Cross Womens Shelter. We wanted to share out
cookies and give a little something extra too.
The learning curve was fun and there are certainly things I would change
for the next one. I have attached a small grouping of photos to share with
you and the site. Again, thanks Robin for all that you do and continue to
do.
You are quite an inspiration!
