ROBIN - Again
thank you so kindly for sharing your wonderful ideas, recipes, suggestions
& all of the hard work that you continually put into Robins Cookie
Exchange website. There are many that have frequently copied your ideas but
never equaled!!!
This year I had 10 friends participate which was a little less than previous
years. I also made available the option to purchase home made cookies with
a few caveats - they had to be home made & of outstanding quality (which
they were). This was for friends that are not bakers and/or just dont
have the time.
Another new option was making available the choice to bake 1 or 2 types of
cookies. Both new options worked out quite nicely. The only other change
was a week night vs weekend. Since it was during the dinner hour, I made
available home-made pulled pork sandwiches & home-made coleslaw. It was
the perfect appetite pleaser after a long day.
My friends Barbara, Carol, Carolyn, Christine, Connie, Dale, Fran, daughter
Siobhan, and Susanne attended.
Cookies baked were: Chocolate Drizzled Pralines, Chocolate Mocha, Cream Cheese
Mini-Cakes, English Tea Balls, Ginger, Hazelnut Ganache Cups, Holiday Biscotti
w/cranberries & pistachios, Oatmeal Butterscotch, Peanut Butter Chocolate
Chip, Rum Raisin Shortbread, Spritz, Swedish Tea Cakes and Toffee Chocolate
Chip. By the way I tossed out my recipe for the Hazelnut Ganache Cups - what
a flop!
We each baked the extra dozen for sampling (yum), plus an additional
dozen. The extra dozen were taken over to the Red Cross Women &
Childrens Shelter in a pretty basket filled with cookies galore. You
should have seen the smiles - they were greatly appreciated! Our door prize
this year was a Dylan Lauren inspired Candy-Covered Topiary Christmas tree
(see photo). Plus everyone received a goody bag filled with a cookie cutter
and other holiday cheer items.
I'd like to thank all my friends once again for attending and being part
of my life.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 and I look forward to another year.
Hugs - Jen
