Melita Ganoe's Cookie Exchange
Jacksonville, Florida

Hey Robin. Wanted to update you once again on my annual CE. This year was even bigger and better than last year. We had 18 ladies and each brought 6 dozen cookies. That's ALOT of cookies. I put together a whole slideshow of the party on my blog ww.mganoe.blogspot.com.

We played 10 games and had a craft exchange too. Dinner was served and even birthday cake for one of the ladies.

Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season.

It's worth it! You'll feel like you were at the party- Robin

Several months ago, I wrote to Melita...

Hi Melita,

Ten games... Wow, that might be a record for a CE! How many hours was your party? First I look at the slide show small, then I realized I could enlarge it, so I watched again.

EXCELLENT JOB!!! So many details, and to top it off you gave them all hand made gifts...( if I understood that part right?) How long did it take for you to plan your party? A lot of work went into the games and prizes. I loved the pajamas and the Grinch gloves and fangs and angel wings, so cute. I'll link to your blog when I start updating the photos for the gallery.

Have a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!

Robin

Melita's response:

Thanks for the reply. The girls picked the date in January (soon after the last party) so everyone could attend. It seems that the first weekend in December is always the best. No one is terribly stressed about the holidays yet. I send out an evite since there are so many ladies about 6 weeks in advance and then I send another reminder about 3 weeks and then another a week out since we have so much going on during the party. Each lady brings 6 dozen cookies (this is when a pool table room really comes in handy). They all wear PJ's (there's a most festive pj contest with prize which is always a craft that I make). There is also a craft exchange where whoever participates makes a craft and then we draw numbers and exchange crafts.

We are all scrapbookers, card makers, and crafters so we really enjoy it. And lastly, they all bring a white elephant gift. It's alot going on especially when you throw in the rest of the games. The party begins at 6:30 and most leave around 11pm although I usually have a couple of girls who stay the night and we have a slumber party complete with home made cinnamon rolls the next morning.

I collect prizes all year long which is essential because EVERYONE goes home with a prize (I had 44 prizes this year), but actually start the hardcore planning in October. My dad makes lumpia (Filipino eggroll) for me at Thanksgiving. The ladies always request Pancit (Filipino lo mein) and Lumpia for dinner that night. Oh, and of course, we have mulled wine and Peppermint Schnapps Hot Cocoa - YUM! It's a great time! We already have December 4th picked out for next year! If you are ever in town, you should come by.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
