We had our cookie exchange December 11 at 1:00 PM. This was my second year
hosting it, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to or not...the first year was
ok, but weather really put a damper on it all.
We started off with snacks and just getting everyone's cookies organized.
Once they were all set up and people had gotten something to eat, we started
off by playing the Antler game. I biffed on this one, I purchased prizes
for games but I totally didn't even think about the fact the Antler game
was a team game, so we still played it but I did a quick Lefty Elf story
afterwards to give out the prize.
After the first game we went and voted on categories. I did: Best Display,
Best dressed, and best decorated cookie. While the girls played a second
game, the Santa Unwrap game, I tallied the votes then gave out the prizes.
After that game we all went and did our exchange of the cookies. We closed
the party with a raffle (tickets obtained by certain participation etc.)
and then an ornament exchange.
I'd say it was a great success! Each year I'll learn how to make things
a little better for the next year. I sent all the girls home with a cookbook
of the recipes. I will be doing this again next year, but I've already pre-made
a template for me to just enter the recipes into since I kinda botched the
books this year!
The photos: First photo is our group shot (I'm the one on the floor,
front and center). Second photo is some of the displays there. Had a some
really cute ones! Third photo is some of the cookies there, exchanged. Photo
4 and 5 are our Antler Captains.
