Left Right Game
Submitted by Sheila DeSimone
This year, because things were a little tight, Sheila made the right
decision to make Christmas cookies with ingredients that were right
there in her pantry. She went right to the pantry door and opened
it. She looked left and then right to see what ingredients
were available. With her left hand she reached for the flour on the
lower left shelf and put it on the kitchen island.
After that, Sheila went back in the pantry and looked to the left
again but there were no more ingredients left on that side of the
shelf. So she spun around to her right and spied the right kind
of ingredients to complete her recipe. All of the ingredients were left
there from the last batch of cookies she made.
Using her right and left hands she gathered up the ingredients and
put them right in front of her on the kitchen island. As she bent
over to the right Sheila opened the drawer on the right side
of the island and took out all of the baking sheets and bowls she would need
to complete her project. She had left nothing in the drawer that she might
need.
Sheila put all of the ingredients in the bowl and began to stir the mixture
to the right a few times and then to the left a few more times.
When she was finished the cookie dough looked just right. The cookie
sheets were on the counter, one right next to the other.
Starting at the top left corner of the cookie sheet Sheila put down
one cookie dough ball. Next she added another ball to the right of
that and another to the right of that. She filled up three cookie
sheets until there was no more cookie dough left in the bowl. Then
she put the cookies in the oven to bake and when she took them out they looked
just right! There was nothing more to do so she put the beautiful
cookies right into her containers and left for the cookie exchange
that happened to be right down the street.
